Third spring in the same container and the roots had circled the whole way round. Went up one size rather than two, trimmed maybe a fifth of the root mass, and it sulked for a fortnight before pushing new leaves.

The stock curve ramped hard at 60C and then hunted up and down for hours. Flattening the middle of the curve and adding a few seconds of hysteresis fixed it completely. Temperatures ended up two degrees higher and I stopped noticing the machine entirely.
Fog until nearly noon, then it burned off all at once. Took the long way back down through the beeches and got in after dark.
